Charley Brown


Charley Brown resides in Austin, Texas with his wife of 25 years, Cathylynn Brown. The Browns have 3 children: Brandon, 22, is a recent graduate of San Diego State University and works in San Diego California; Lillian, 20, is a junior at New York University studying acting in the Tisch School of the Arts and Wilson, 18, is a senior at Anderson High School and he plans to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder next fall. Cathylynn has served as PTA president at Doss Elementary and Murchison Middle School, President of the Doss Endowment, President of Young Men’s Service League, President of Austin Lawyer’s Auxiliary and presently serves as a volunteer for Settlement Home and the ARC.

Charley retired in 2017 as the CEO and founder of Hunter-Kelsey of Texas, LLC where Bakari Henderson worked as an intern in 2013 which was his first corporate financial experience. His company provided tax payment plans to thousands of Texas property owners. He is Board Certified in commercial and residential real estate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has more than 20 years’ experience as a practicing attorney.   

Charley was a Director of the Texas Property Tax Lienholders Association for 8 years and served as Vice President and committee chair of the legislative committee. Mr. Brown was chairman of the Goodwill Advisory Board and Chairman of the Goodwill Temporary Services Board. Mr. Brown also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Central Texas, Inc. During his 12-year tenure as a Board Member at Goodwill, the organization experienced dramatic growth in revenue and expansion of services.

He was Cubmaster of Pack 2 cub scout troop and coached a number of youth soccer, baseball and football teams. (Including coaching Bakari Henderson one year of little league baseball). He has been an active real estate investor since 1989 and owns and manages real estate in several Texas counties. Charley has an undergraduate degree and master’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. His personal interests are travel, exercise, golf, music and reading.
